ABOUT ME

Hello Friends!

My name is Rachel Weatherbie, and this is my story. Around 2001, a friend and I were visiting Amish Country in Holmes County, Ohio. She took me to one of her favorite shops that specialized in cross stitch. The designs, samples and patterns were beautiful, but I had no talent or tolerance to sit down and make something that intricate. So I decided at that moment that there must be a machine out there that could do it for me! Little did I know the journey I was going to embark on.

I started doing a ton of research online, and later that year I discovered the Brother ULT 2003D embroidery and sewing machine. I started embroidering everything in sight, t-shirts, sweatshirts, towels, blankets, and the list goes on and on. After a few years of putting single designs on ready-made items, I decided that there must be more out there that I could do. So I started searching for projects made in the hoop and other ideas that I could embroider. This led to my first quilt! It was a nine patch appliqué embroidered heart wall hanging quilt. The quilt was simple, and I had no idea what I was doing!

I was inspired by that first quilt, and always up for a challenge, I decided a few years later (August 2005) to open a quilt shop with my friend and business partner, called Sew Little Time, ltd. in Norwalk Ohio. Before we opened the store I decided that we would of course need some samples, so I made my very first full-sized quilt! Think of that...opened a quilt shop and had never made a full quilt, only wall hangings, and embroidered items! Now that was a challenge.

Below is a picture of that Sunflower Quilt that you can click on to see a larger view. (Also I would never hang a quilt like that one again as you see pictured. A few years ago it was all the rage, but over time you can see that the weight of the quilt completely stretches it out!)

So of course one thing led to another, and a few years later, and with much learning under my belt, I now quilt for others! I have a Nolting Pro 24 with Intelliquilter. I specialize in edge to edge quilting because I believe that all quilts deserve to be quilted and loved!

I hope that you will consider utilizing my skills and talents to complete your heirloom quilt!
